Who Needs Christmas Presents?

We got home from spending 5 days away from home...we brought tons of gifts home - new toys for the monkey to play with and what was the first thing he went for on Wed morning when he woke up...
Yep, that's right he went for the cooling racks...which weren't Christmas presents...
And he went for the the hot drink thermos...(note: one of his Christmas gifts is sitting in the middle of the picture on the left...he did push it around later.)
also not a Christmas gift...that night he found another thing he had missed out on - his water bottle!
He also decided he would help his daddy cook dinner!

However, the next morning he decided that he would play with some of the toys he got at Christmas, like his fun activity center...
His See and Say...
His blocks...
His maracas...
Usually when he shakes his maracas he also shakes his head and/or his body...
but when I turned the camera on he stopped doing it...oh well.

Since then he has played with his Christmas gifts, well not all of them - some we have kept apart so he's not bombarded with tons...I should've taken a picture of the living room and kitchen earlier when all of his toys and all the kitchen things he plays with were strewn around the living room and kitchen!

Elvis is Alive and Well!!

One of the monkey's Christmas gifts this year I was super excited about when I saw it!! I mean he has Elvis sunglasses - that he wears to celebrate his month birthdays - that were from Aunt Hallie and Uncle Josh...but now he has another part of his Elvis outfit!! Uncle Josh and Aunt Hallie gave the monkey an Elvis hairpiece/wig!! So now he can wear his sunglasses and his hairpiece!! Granted, he doesn't like both of them on at the same time...and the wig doesn't fit perfectly but still - I know you want to see it!

I waited till the day after we got home to put the wig and sunglasses on him...and it was in the morning so he was still in his pj's - not really a good Elvis outfit - but hey you'll still get the gist of just how much he'll look like Elvis!

Momma do I have to wear the sunglasses too?
Did you get the pic momma?
Hey momma
Why are you laughing?! Does my hair look funny from a distance?
Thanks Uncle Josh and Aunt Hallie! Now momma is gonna dress me up even more!
Now to find the perfect outfit!!

1st Christmas, 3rd (and final) time

SANTA finally CAME! That's right - the 3rd Christmas is when Santa finally came...of course it was the night before Christmas and Christmas day - so I guess that explains it, I'm just glad he knew where to find us!
Best picture ever!!
In our family we have many Christmas traditions! I didn't realize how different our Christmas was from everyone else's growing up - but when I got older and married I realized we put on a Christmas show compared to most people! So step inside and share our Christmas (which to many might feel a bit crazy and long - but to us, is normal...well still not "normal" to Rusty).

Christmas morning all the kids wait to see their stockings - which were filled by Santa in the middle of the night - until the grownups are up...and we always do stockings in our pj's! Most of the time there were stairs to come down - and if not stairs there was a hallway - and you'd line up youngest to oldest child and walk/run to see what Santa brought...This year the monkey got a little confused - instead of going down the stairs he went up the stairs...
and into his cousins' bedroom...
and up onto the landing...
I then took him back downstairs where he found a great toy...
That's right a piece of plastic that his cousins had gotten rid of...they were opening up their presents from Santa - the monkey wasn't in a hurry - he was just enjoying this "new toy" he found...until I dragged him away and put a hat on him!
But it wasn't really that bad...because Santa not only brought the crazy hat but he also brought a recorder!!
Then it was time for stockings!! Daddy helped the monkey go through his stocking...they found: Spiderman filp-flops!
Rubberoos and a sippy cup with a straw!!
He liked the sippy cup and the rubberoos...
Yep, he didn't want to let them go - even for the little phone, seaweed, blocks, monkey bib, or the little monkey that matched his stocking...Santa did good!!
Of course other people were excited by what Santa brought too! Uncle Dave became a pirated Rudolph and Aunt Stephanie became a pirate!
After stockings the fun continued - we had breakfast and did a "costume change" (well the monkey did - all the adults were already dressed and the cousins stayed in their pj's - but the monkey had to change out of his pj's into clothes - because I made him)...(notice his "fancy bib")
He had fun playing with his jingle bell shaker and the cousins Hulk toy...
He was also tempted by the fireplace - he really wanted to get up close but unfortunately we wouldn't let him...but not to worry - it was time for presents!!!
The monkey wasn't nearly as excited about the presents as his cousins were...next year he'll probably be more excited! You might think presents were the end of the celebration - but you'd be wrong...after presents we then eat lunch, have dessert, and open our sleigh gift! Wait, what do you mean, what's a sleigh gift? It's the last gift of Christmas of course - it's a present that is in the sleigh that sits on the table...at dessert time everyone pulls a string that is attached to their present in the sleigh...the string is attached to your dessert fork/spoon. AND that would conclude the Christmas celebration!

The monkey's 1st Christmas was a success three times around!
