It's just that time of year!

It's finally nice and cool (cold) outside so we have to get bundled up to go outside...this morning when we went to the farmers market it was really cold - so the monkey got bundled up in his bearsuit...and no it's not a costume - it's like a snowsuit but it's a bear...it was from GG and it's perfect for him right now - size wise - so it was great to dress him up in it to go out...and yes it will definitely get plenty of wear! I mean if you had one you'd probably dress your child (or yourself) up in it...trust me super cute...people at the market were stopping to look at my adorable bear-monkey child!
Um, momma, we're not at the market anymore - can I get out of this now?
It's got little parts for his hands and feet so I can cover his hands and feet - unfortunately he's too long to do that to his feet and honestly, have you ever tried to take hands away from a teething baby? Yeah, exactly I decided not to try it either...(Thanks GG!)

Kids get dressed up in costumes (remember that the "bearsuit" isn't a costume) and there are costume parties to go to. For this party the monkey dressed up as a goat - in the whole outfit not just the hat (the costume buttons didn't do a very good job of staying closed, as you can tell)...
Please don't throw me in the fountain daddy...I don't think goats like swimming...
Momma are you almost done with the pictures?
of course when it's time to leave it's super sad too...(ok, he was really hungry and tired - but it sounds better to say he was sad to leave the party)...

There are also pumpkins to play with! The other day I put our pumpkins on the floor to see what he would do with them...well my question was answered soon after they were put down!
Ok, so one pumpkin wasn't exciting...(and don't worry - I had washed them off so they were ready for whatever he decided to do.)
This is fun...but I thought there were two of these things...
Are two pumpkins better than one?

I knew it! There were two!
Oh, see - two are much better...need proof? Well aren't you lucky - I have proof!
Yep, this monkey definitely likes pumpkins...he'd probably like pumpkin pie - but too bad for him he doesn't get any pie yet...
Mmm...this is pretty good stuff!
Mmm...I could eat this forever!
All of this means fall is finally here and we are going to enjoy it to it's fullest!

I see something...Can you?

The monkey has 2 teeth and I believe that he is "teething" another tooth or two right now...why do I think that? Well let's see, yesterday he was whiny and clingy all day, then last night from 3:16am on he would only sleep in my arms - which meant I didn't get much sleep (ok, I only got 1 more hour of sleep), which is why I know he was up from 3:16am... Today was another day of being clingy and not taking naps except if he was being held, and then for not very long because he's a mover and he was being confined in my arms. Then daddy came home and the monkey was in a great mood! The rest of the day he would only play for about 30 min at a time before becoming whiny and wanting to be held...this is how he was the last time he was teething - but it wasn't this bad because it only happened for 1 day and he slept through the night.  Tylenol wasn't doing much for him today - hopefully it'll help him tonight - but I do think that the top teeth might be making their appearance in the next little bit...(his bottom two came together - well a couple of days apart, but because of that I think his top two teeth will be coming in together too)

Today I actually got a few pictures of his bottom two teeth - he likes to keep them undercover - in terms of being seen - he has no problem biting and allowing you to feel the sharp little buggers - but when I try to look at his teeth he immediately puts his tongue over the top. There is one time that you can almost always see the teeth - when he's laughing...however it is hard to get a picture of him laughing if I don't have the camera ready to go, which I usually don't, but today I did...look closely and you might be able to spot two little white teeth.
Hey momma - I can give you 5!
Who's the silly momma?
Can we do the Itsy Bitsy Spider again?!
This next picture is what I usually get when I try to get a picture of his teeth...so I had to include it, besides that it was a cute pic.
If I keep smiling she'll never know I'm trying to get the camera!
A little blurry, but he was trying to get the camera away from me (surprise surprise)...but you can see two little blurry teeth...

I'm wondering if it will be just as hard to get a picture of his top teeth when they finally make an appearance...but don't worry when it comes time for his molars to come in I won't be attempting to take pictures of those - or of his wisdom teeth...just the first few teeth you have to document.

WHERE did all these animals come from?! By Owen

I've gone to the zoo before...it's always been ok...nothing ever too exciting...I mean every once in awhile I'd see an animal or two - but nothing like today! Today, I was in my new stroller...the one where I can sit and actually see out - rather than the other stroller where I stayed in my car seat and it was hard to see anything except for my mommy or my daddy or whoever was pushing me...but today I could see EVERYTHING! I don't know if there was an animal I didn't see - I mean I saw bears...
Lazy bear relaxing in the water...
maybe it was too hot for him...
There were a couple of other bears, but they were a little harder for me to see...I saw some sea lions swimming...chimps sitting in the shade, a HUGE orangutan - that was sitting and eating right in front of me!! I saw some gorillas - but they were far away and hard to see...I saw penguins jumping into the water and swimming around - just like me at swim class!!

Then we moved on and I saw zebras - real ones! They looked just like my stuffed zebra with the black and white stripes! The giraffe's looked like my giraffe! Momma said they wouldn't be happy if I bit their ears or legs - but I don't understand why...I mean my giraffe doesn't mind me biting her so why would the ones at the zoo be so opposed to it?!

Around the corner were the camels!
Um, Mr. Camel, you can stay over there...no need to come closer...
They were funny looking animals - they had two lumps on their back - I've never seen anything like them in my entire life...I kinda liked them...but I am glad that they were at a distance...I don't know how close I actually want to get to them. On the other hand the tiger I saw I liked a lot and would've like to get closer to - but momma said we couldn't...it just looked like a cute cat sitting in the shade under a tree - I liked it a lot!

After being outside in the heat, it was in the 80's today, we went inside to look at the birds...and oh boy was that fun!! I saw this really cool bird - it had a really long beak that was bright colors and it was playing with a branch...momma said it was called a toucan...daddy said it was the bird that makes fruit loops, but I have no idea what fruit loops are - hm maybe I should get mommy and daddy to buy me some so I can try them...I have a feeling I'd like them if this bird has anything to do with them! I really liked this toucan...and I think he liked me too!
See Mr. Fruit Loop over in the corner...momma didn't do too well with this pic...

Good job momma! Much better!
There were some other toucans - but they weren't nearly as exciting as the "fruit loop" toucan!
The lazy blue toucans
See - they just sat there...they didn't play with the branches and make noise, or stare at me...Mr. Fruit Loop was a lot more fun!

After the bird house we went to the monkey house! Most of the monkey's were running around or sitting close to where I stopped to looked at them - so they were pretty easy to see...the animals outside had wood and green stuff around them so they were a little harder to see unless I got at the "perfect angle" - which momma and daddy tried their best to do for me...This monkey though...this one kept running around in a big circle right in front of me! A couple of times I thought I was going to be able to catch him, but I didn't. I couldn't look away though because he was so close - well until some people came up and started talking - they were pretty interesting too so I stopped to look at them...but then this monkey won out again...he had a scary face - but a really long fluffy tail that was just begging to be pulled...
You're lucky Mr. Monkey that I couldn't reach you...next time you might not be so lucky!
The last part we went to momma said was the "River Walk" - that's where the elephants, hippo's, and rhino's are...those are the only animals I remember the zoo having - because last time we came to the zoo momma carried me on the river walk - so I got to see those animals. Let me just start by saying - they smell (the monkey house smelled really bad too) but these big animals smelled bad...of course we were outside so it wasn't as bad but still...and they were HUGE...Momma took some pics of the elephants because the baby elephant was out (not the same baby elephant that was born when I was back in Jan...nope this one was born in June)...
Here come the elephants...
They say that's a "baby" elephant and I'm getting "big"...that elephant looks huge!
It was feeding time...I still think that "baby" is huge...
After seeing all those animals I was pretty tired...luckily momma and daddy knew I was tired so I didn't have to start fussing "I wanna go home" - instead after the river walk they said "let's go home" - or something like that - which really was music to my ears! I mean, don't get me wrong - I loved going to the zoo and seeing all the animals...but sitting in a stroller is pretty confining and I was ready to move...well I was ready to take a nap and then get up and move! I can't wait to go back to the zoo - now that I know there are all those different animals there! And there were more - I just didn't want to name off every single animal I saw - especially since momma didn't get a picture of all the different animals...but oh boy was it a fun afternoon with momma and daddy!

Talents

The monkey has some talents...now these aren't talents like he can play the piano, swing from a tree, climb a ladder, or carve a pumpkin at 9 months - nope these are things that some people might not consider talents - but they are, in their own way, talents...

Things like this...
that would be the monkey moving his rocking chair so he can get behind the tv and tug on the cords...it started with him doing that to get closer to the Wii controllers - but slowly moved to just the cords...yep - talent.

Or how about this...
standing on his tip-toes so he can reach the cord for the blinds...we had to put the blinds up because he would just go to the window and start pulling on them - but when we moved them up he realized there was a cord he could just barely reach...(he also likes to bite the window ledge...so far no paint has been chipped by his two teeth)

That's not doing it for you? Ok, well maybe this one will make you a believer...
climbing over his car seat (when he's not in the mood to move it) in order to get into the little nook to grab my flip flops to chew on...yeah - he likes chewing on things - especially my flip flops. And he knows which ones mine are because at swimming he doesn't head over toward anyone's flip flops but mine - which is a relief that he's not chewing on someone else's shoes - but still not something I want my kid to do (sometimes I think he's a dog).

Wait, you don't consider that a talent? Ok...
and no he's not just eating a clean diaper...he's letting me know he needs his diaper changed...see talent! You can't argue with that can you?!

Or how about this...which I finally got a picture of...he's been doing this for a few weeks now...
that's right - that's the monkey standing all by himself while he "brushes his teeth"! I mean honestly, if he's gonna stand up by himself he might as well do something productive...ok, it's not really a toothbrush - it's a "teething toothbrush" - he loves it! But back to the standing - he's standing on his own more and more so now we're just patiently waiting till he decided to take that first step without holding on...

And the last bit of "talent"...

seriously - how many kids do you know, that can get stuck under a table...granted it's a glass table - but still...he was trying desperately to stand up rubbing his head back and forth trying to figure out why he was stuck...and then he finally figured out that he was under the table...silly boy...and ok, so maybe that's not talent but I couldn't resist adding it to this post!

Egg Yolks = Allergy

Momma what is this stuff you're feeding me?
The monkey decided he'd be different...most kids react to the egg white - so the yolks are the part they say you can feed a baby when they're young (and yes, this is different than years ago...because of this I've decided to go back to the "rules" of old). At lunch time I decided to give the monkey some egg yolk - see how he did with it, and when I say that I mean how he liked it...and I still don't know if he liked it or not...at first I thought he hated it but then on the 2nd bite I thought he loved it...you're probably wondering how I could not know if my child liked something or not, well it went something like this...

Mom: feeds the monkey a bite of egg yolk
Monkey: immediately sticks his tongue out and starts coughing...then brings his tongue into his mouth and tastes the eggs and eats it...
Mom: feeds the monkey another bite
Monkey: grabs mom's hand when it comes toward him with his mouth wide...as soon as egg yolk hits his tongue though he sticks his tongue out and starts coughing...then he tastes and eats the yolk.
This is repeated 3 more times - that's when he's decided he's had enough...(he also ate a few bites of sweet potato)...

About 10 minutes after eating I realized the monkey had red and white spots all around his mouth and chin...never had that happened before...so I watched him thinking "maybe he's having a little reaction"...about 30 min later his nose, mouth, eyes, and eyebrows were deep red...that's when I started worrying and I called his doctor. They told me to give him some Benadryl and how much - so we got in the car to go to the store to get some medicine and his left eye was almost swollen shut, his ears were bright red, there was a red rash starting to cover his body, and he had a slight temp - luckily the drugstore is about 5 min away...

About 30 minutes after having the medicine in his system the red rash stopped, his temp started going down, and his eye started looking better (less swollen)...and it kept getting better and better. By 6pm the poor kid was wiped out and ready for bed - no fever, no red rash all over his body, no redness on his face, and just a slightly puffy eye - but really almost all the swelling was down.

Tomorrow will be a new day...and like almost all the previous days, it will be egg-free for the monkey...and no we won't be trying peanuts, strawberries, citrus fruit, shellfish, or wheat anytime soon - even though the new food guidelines say that I can give them to him...but nope - I'm sticking with the old guidelines from now on!

Botanical Garden

Today we went to the botanical garden - I mean seriously what else were we to do on a beautiful day - it was in the upper 70's...in the middle-end of October...I know I should be enjoying this weather...but I'm just one of those people who love fall because it means cooler weather - you know like jeans, long-sleeved shirts, jackets, maybe a scarf...I think I've had a few days with weather like that (yesterday for instance was cool weather and last week) but on the whole it hasn't been really cool yet (this coming weekend it's suppose to get cool - and I'm excited). But yeah, it was nice weather...a beautiful day - so we all went outside to enjoy the day! Besides that Rusty hadn't gone with us to the garden in awhile - because we usually go during the week when he's working - so it was fun to go with him too...

The monkey once again loved being in his stroller and being able to see everything...but since he couldn't see the fish we took him out of the stroller and took him down to the waters edge. He was interested for a little bit and then he was done...one of these days he's gonna love seeing and feeding the fish and he'll be fighting us when we take him away...today he just fought us when we tried to put him back into the stroller...so instead I just carried him the last bit.
Daddy and the monkey looking at the fish...
Daddy and the monkey talking about the fish
All the fish coming over to see the monkey.
Fortunately, Rusty held the monkey high enough that the fish couldn't nibble on the monkey's toe's...he would've really freaked out...even though he likes to chomp on my toes (really anyone's toes - my feet are usually barefoot so he goes for them)...I don't think he'd like a fish chomping on his toes!

As we walked around we saw the sheep and so we had to of course stop and take a picture - especially since he was no longer in the stroller but in my arms...it was pretty cute...of course it would've been even cuter if he had been in one of his Halloween costumes (of course it was too hot for any of his costumes)...
Hey daddy...what is this thing momma put me on?!
She said it's a sheep but it doesn't feel like a sheep...ok, I admit it, I don't know what a sheep feels like...
Hey, why are there kids trying to sit on the other sheep - don't they see me?!
Hey momma, I don't think this is a real sheep...
it's not soft and fluffy like you said sheep are...it's rough...

I do like these ears though...they make it easy to hang on...um...those kids are getting closer...
It was a fun time at the garden that's for sure - and we wore the monkey out - he fell asleep on the way home - which he usually does...I didn't get a picture of him sleeping in the car today - but I got one the other day of him and thought I'd include it - because this is pretty much what how he sleeps in the car every time he falls asleep (sometimes his head rolls to the side, but for the most part it's like this)...
