Milk Mustache

Since he has a milk allergy the monkey drinks either almond milk or coconut milk...for awhile all he'd drink was coconut milk, but about a month ago he decided that he preferred almond milk. Granted he didn't wake up one day and say "Hey Mom, I don't think I want any more coconut milk - I prefer unsweetened vanilla almond milk instead"...nope, he just refused to drink the coconut milk and would only drink the unsweetened vanilla almond milk (not to be confused with the unsweetened almond milk - which he didn't want to drink either)...He was happy drinking it through his straw sippy cup for a couple of weeks and then all of a sudden once again refused to drink it, so I switched to a regular sippy cup and BOOM he started drinking it again.
Move on to 3 days ago and once again he refused to drink his almond milk...so I gave him some in a regular glass and what do you know - he asked for his milk 3 times yesterday!
And once again, by "asking" I don't mean he said "Hey Mom, I'd like a glass of almond milk please" nope he would walk to the fridge hang on to the handle - trying to open the door - saying "dis...dis...dis..." and when I opened the door he'd try to climb in the fridge saying "dat...dat...dat..." trying to get up to the milk. (He's discovered "dis" and "dat" can mean a variety of things so why learn other words.)
I've decided that almond milk makes the best milk mustaches! Coconut milk (unless you drink it from a can - which isn't the coconut milk he drinks) doesn't do it, but almond milk - oh boy can you get a good mustache!
Of course not everything can be great all the time - today he wasn't that into his milk again, so I think it might be time to switch back to the coconut milk for a bit and see if he just wants a change...

Spaghetti by Owen

Daddy made spaghetti last night for dinner and I wasn't too sure about it (they even made it with quinoa pasta so I could eat it)...
It looked a little like the ratatouille that momma has made me but it was mixed into some weird worm like stuff - they said it was "pasta" whatever that is...but I went ahead and tried it...
and really, one bite wasn't enough to judge it - so I had to take another bite...
and another...
It was sooo good! WHY didn't they give this to me earlier?! I guess it could've been because they hadn't had it in awhile either - but still, come on parents! Feed me this stuff, it's good!
The pasta was ok, but I loved the sauce!
Tonight we had leftover spaghetti, and it was delicious! I even ate the pasta tonight - it tasted better...okay, not just better but amazing! I ate almost 1 1/2 plates of spaghetti - so good! I can't wait to see what they make me next - I'm sure it's something they've been holding out on me!

I like to eat, eat, eat apples and bananas...

When the mokey turned 16 months he suddenly found a love for bananas...and now he eats 1/2 of a banana every morning...
Not only does he like eating his banana but he also likes to pretend it's a phone
(The phone is the banana behind his head...you know, where you hold your phone when you talk.)
Thought you might like to see a video of how much he likes his banana...
But bananas aren't the only fruit he's into big time...he's always liked applesauce, but he's not really into slices of apples...however, if you give him the whole apple - he's extremely happy munching on it!

Of course he wasn't able to finish the apple because he dropped it and it rolled off the deck onto the ground below...okay, that and for him it was a big apple...

Weekend with Grandpa and Grandma

This past weekend Grandpa Terry and Grandma Mary came to visit and we had fun! On Saturday went to Grant's Farm
We walked all over - chasing animals...
Looking at animals...
There was a water mister that sprayed water on his - the monkey loved that and would've played in that all day, but we had to keep going...
Of course he didn't actually get to feed the animals, he would've eaten the food...but he did try to get the food.
Then the next day, Grandma and Grandpa gave the monkey a lawn mower that blows bubbles!!
The bubbles didn't work that great when the monkey tried pushing it, so he had to check it out...
When Rusty pushed it bubbles came out though...
No matter what, he still loves pushing it around!

1st Professional Haircut

Sufer dude needs a haircut
Today was the big day! The day we all knew would come sooner or later - the monkey's 1st professional haircut! All his previous haircuts were done by Rusty, but we decided it was time for a little more than what daddy could do, so we went to a children's hair salon - The Hairy Elephant (why they chose to name a kids hair salon that I have no clue, I can think of lots of better names, but oh well). For those that aren't familiar with children's salons - it's where they specialize in kids haircuts, so the waiting area has tons of toys, and all the chairs are either cars, trucks, airplanes, or boats - that the kids sit in while getting their hair cut. They also have little tv's for each individual station that the kids can watch whatever show they want. And for the older kids they have a "shampoo bar" where kids can mix different "flavors" of shampoo together...but for a 16 mo old they don't do the whole shampoo thing yet - they just spray them down.

The monkey did a great job! We were super impressed - he sat still while she wet his hair down with a spray bottle - although he wasn't too thrilled about it - I think it was more the thought of "why is she spraying me with water while my mom and dad look on and do nothing?!"
But when it came time to the actual cutting of the hair - he was ready to go!
Of course, what's the point of getting your hair cut by a girl if you don't lean into her?!
When he started to get a little restless, he was given a comb...what else are you suppose to do with a comb but comb your hair?!
He tried to comb it, but combing your hair doesn't really cooperate with getting your hair cut, so the comb went away and instead he got a snack and a phone...
Of course, there is always that moment when you're getting your hair cut that you start to question what you're doing...the monkey had that moment too and he then decided he was "all done"
The majority of the time he had fun driving the car
but when he was done - daddy helped him hold his head so that she could finish trimming him up.
He did such a great job, but he was definitely ready to be up and out of the chair by the end.
Since he did so good he got a surprise when he got home...
His very own toilet!!! And boy was he excited about it!
